August Favourites

August has been a superb month, mainly because we had 2 weeks of summer break to while away as we please. It has been a month of great adventure and stumbling upon new finds, with hope, it doesn't end there.

Top from Korea, DIY High Waist shorts, Topshop Boots

Favourite fashion item: DIY High Waist Shorts

On a random morning, my mom brought me along to the market and there was a lady selling second hand jeans. Low and behold, we found a pair of high waist jeans that ended at an awkward length. So, I cut it off to the length of my desire and cuffed it, resulting to a pair of shorts. After months of searching, I've finally found a pair that fits perfectly (I didn't try it on at the market and was only hoping for the best). Being patient does pay off, folks. The best part is, the jeans only set me back RM5.

Favourite read: The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell

An insightful read that explains how trends and epidemics happened. For those who are interested in psychology, you should definitely pick this up. It is easy to understand and a fast read.

Favourite beauty item: Flash by Jimmy Choo

I didn't like this scent in particular at first, but after a few months of catching a whiff of it on my mom, I started growing really fond of it. It has a very feminine floral scent. What I love about it is that it lasts really long, mostly an entire day. If you spritz it in your hair, it'll last till the day after.

Here is a breakdown of the scent (source: Tongue In Chic):
Top Notes: Pink Pepper and Strawberry
Heart Notes: Tuberose, Jasmine and White Lily
Base Notes: White Woods

Favourite moment: Trip to Cambodia

It was a much needed vacation. I enjoyed my time there as we got to visit the magnificent Angkor Wat, swim in the evenings, venture out in a boat to Tonle Sap and eat Khmer food. This trip definitely tops the list of best vacations.

Favourite app: Nike Training Club

This app was introduced to me by my sister, but I didn't really get into it till this month. I prefer to workout in the comfort of my own home and enjoy the flexibility of it. I get to workout whenever and wherever I want with this app. Plus, you can really work up a sweat with this. Video examples are shown if you're uncertain how the workouts are done.

Favourite podcast: Welcome To Night Vale

For all of you who are fascinated with the supernatural world or all things weird, this is the podcast for you. It is a radio news format with Cecil Baldwin as the host. Each episode is around 20 minutes. Within this 20 minutes, you'll get to listen to the latest news of the fictional town of Night Vale, including the traffic and weather. The weather is always a random song, which I enjoy.

Here's a taste of what to expect when listening to Welcome To Night Vale:

Till then,
Happy Birthday Malaysia!

Lost

Dreaming of getting lost in a foreign city with only a map, couple of friends and a camera.
Yearning for sleeping in only to be awaken by the sunlight.
Reading a book or watching a movie and not being able to sleep because you can't shut off your thoughts.
Thinking, wondering, learning.

A Certain Romance

Sister's Cotton On top & bandana, Cotton On shorts, Thrifted flannel shirt,
Topshop boots.

The flannel shirt and bandana are definitely my favourites of late. Whenever I need something to throw on for days when it's chilly, the flannel shirt is my go to item because it's really comfortable and thick. When I don't need it anymore, I can simply tie it around my hips. The bandana is useful on days when my fringe just won't cooperate.

What are your go to items?

Till then,
Live.

Wish Bone

Top from Malacca, Diva bracelets, H&M Skirt, Mom's hand-me-down cardigan,
Shoes from a bazaar.

Bad hair days call for a bun that would reveal my nasty undercut. Growing it out has been a pain as it's constantly sticking out due to the awkward length. But overall, I have no regrets. Life is about growing through experiences after all.

It's week two of semester 3 and waking up early has been getting significantly easier. Assignments, quizzes and homework in general are piling up. I hope all of you have got your workload in check and are coping better than I am.

Till then,
It's hard to explain.

Tuesday Tunes: Summer On My Mind

I got summer on my mind,
Nowhere else though,
Lord take me downtown or to you.
People show me love but I can't take it,
What I said was true
Real pain, can't fake it.

Tune the world out and zone in on Still by JJ. We all need to escape once in awhile and this helps. The hypnotising beats are able to transport you to somewhere far, far away.

Till then,
Chill out.

Must Watch: You're Boring

This video for Lazy Oaf's Autumn '13 collection is EVERYTHING. It defines how a morning should start off and how it should be all day long. The outfits are kooky and fun; I just want everything she wore. From the ideal room (Misfits poster, hello?), a cluttered kitchen filled with plants and lots of twirling, this is absolute perfection.

Till then,
Lose your mind.

Last of the Sun

Thrifted dress worn as top, Skirt from Cambodia, Bag from Morocco, Flatforms from H&M

A day of feasting calls for the most comfiest attire. The skirt is loud enough that I had to pair it with something much muted like this fitted dress. Flatforms were worn for added height. On a semi unrelated note, printed dresses, skirts and pants can be found in Cambodia for an amazing deal. This skirt cost 7USD, definitely a steal. The material is thick so quality isn't a problem.

Till then,
Au revoir.

Hiding Out In The Sun

Japanese fashion has always appealed to me, mainly because of their strong sense of individuality. They aren't afraid to stand out from the crowd and experiment with different looks. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but hey, to each his own right?

Dishevelled

My outfits for the past three to four days have involved skirts, probably because the idea of constricting my legs to shorts or any form of pants repulse me. The pull towards skirts and dresses have been at an all time high ever since college started, hopefully it'll fade, because after awhile, skirts and dresses get real dull.

Sister's shirt, Mom's hand-me-down tank top, Cotton On skirt,
Forever 21 necklace, Topshop boots, Bazarro watch

Have been contemplating wearing my platforms to college, but the thought of climbing up the stairs in those make me wince. The option is still open though, so only time will tell.

Till then,
Keep it together, it's Friday!

Here We Go Again

The desire to revamp my room is slowly creeping up on me once again. This dream revamp won't happen anytime soon though as waking up early for 8am classes is messing up my sleep cycle. It does not feel good to be groggy all day long. Thus to quench my thirst for pretty rooms, here's a few ideas for your next room revamp:

It seems the key to a Tumblr worthy room would be tons of pictures, cats and piles of books. Seems like a good combination to me.

Till then,
Stay rad.
