Tuesday Tunes: 505

The original version by Arctic Monkeys is mind exploding good and this kind of lives up to it. I think they made it their own but kept with the whole vibe that is somewhat morbid and sad. There's always something sad about this song to me, probably because of the lost hopes of it all. I don't even know what I'm trying to say anymore. It's been a rough couple of days. Hoping to end this year on a good note.

Till then,
We'll see how it goes.

Makeup: Coloured Eyeliner to Your Christmas Look

Well, hello there!

Christmas is today and here's a quick tutorial that can help you out on vamping your Christmas dinner makeup.

Ladies love their red lips but if you're going to be the ones who are planning to hog the dinner spreads, I'd suggest sticking to a nude lipstick to avoid smearing or if you're just too lazy to reapply.

And with a nude lip, you can always smoke it up with your eye makeup. Here I'll be showing a step-by-step for a cool Christmas eye look: a soft vintage gold eye with green liner on the lash line! And glitter. Never forget the glitter.

(I apologise for the scary bare skin. I like to do my eye makeup first before foundation just to avoid fallout. I only have my SPF50 moisturizer on, so expect open pores and shine.)

1. Create your usual smokey eye. As I can't really find my crease, I create one. Using an angled eyeliner brush, I trace above where my lids overlap and follow the shape. I used a dark brown eyeshadow for this.

2. This step isn't necessary if you have a gold eyeshadow already. Just sweep it on all over your lids up to the line you've created. However, I did use a gold pencil liner instead to prolong the stay-on power.

3. Blenddddddddd. You can use a black or the dark brown shadow to darken up your outer 'V' until you get a soft smokey look.

4. Here comes the green eyeliner. From the tearduct area, gently tug it along your lower lash line. Avoid your water line and leave it bare. Until you reach the end of your eye, flick the green liner out, about half a cm.

5. You're gonna want to make your eyes pop. Using a black liquid eyeliner, make a really thin line on your lids and slightly flick it out. Your black and green eyeliner will look like they mirror each other. Then, take a white pencil liner and fill your your waterline completely. Fill it in between those two black and green eyeliner.

6. (Ignore the redness in my eyes. They get irritated easily). The fun part comes now. GLITTAHHHH!! I used NYX's Crystal Liner in Crystal Hip which is a gorgeous clear liquid eyeliner with holographic glitter. I topped the green eyeliner off with it with a few coats.

After foundation, concealer and setting powder has been applied:

You can't really see it that clearly but in real life, I promise it looks really pretty! Another alternative would be if you don't have a glitter liner, you could always use a shimmer or glitter powder using a wet brush to apply it.

Don't forget mascara and brows though! And if you have fake lashes, go for it. I dare you.

Merry Christmas!

Tuesday Tunes: Robbers

There's news that The 1975 might be coming down to KL next year. I really do hope that they'll be coming down because I'll be front row singing along to everything with Marini by my side. I wrote about them a few posts ago, you can check out more of my favourite songs by them there.

Today though, is all about Robbers. I love the story behind it, the emotions in his voice and this particular line:

And when she's leaving your home she's begging you, "Stay, stay, stay, stay, stay."

Too many emotions.

Till then,
I'll give you one more time.

Friday Film: Trainspotting

This movie was based on a book of the same title by Irvine Welsh. I have not read it yet, but after watching the movie, I would love to pick it up. Trainspotting revolves around Mark Renton, his friends and their drug addiction. It's set in Edinburgh, their accents are thick, so subtitles are recommended.

Trainspotting is not for the faint hearted for it deals with addiction. It shows you how easy it is for us to lose control and give up everything for a quick hit. Some of the scenes are not easy to digest at all, it may even cause you to lose your appetite, but all in all, it was a damn good movie. Considering how it's semester break and I finally have time to sit down and watch a proper movie, this movie was the best out of the lot, beating The Hobbit II, Frozen and Anna Karenina. OK, maybe not The Hobbit II, but you catch my drift.

Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: [narrating] Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose a three-piece suit on hire purchase in a range of fucking fabrics. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pissing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourselves. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?

Diane: Do you find that this approach usually works? Or let me guess, you've never tried it before. In fact, you don't normally approach girls - am I right? The truth is that you're a quiet sensitive type but, if I'm prepared to take a chance, I might just get to know the inner you: witty, adventurous, passionate, loving, loyal. Taxi! A little bit crazy, a little bit bad. But hey - don't us girls just love that?

Sick Boy: Personality, I mean that's what counts, right? That's what keeps a relationship going through the years.

Mark "Rent-boy" Renton: I don't feel the sickness yet, but it's in the post. That's for sure. I'm in the junkie limbo at the moment. Too ill to sleep. Too tired to stay awake, but the sickness is on its way. Sweat, chills, nausea. Pain and craving. A need like nothing else I've ever known will soon take hold of me. It's on its way.

Till then,
Cheers mate.

Sea Breeze

Heart shaped sunglasses from Ribbonxlove (RM18), Thrifted white top & high waist shorts,
H&M bikini top, Bracelets from Diva, Fourskin & Morocco.

For those of you planning a tropical getaway, sunglasses are crucial to shade your eyes from the sun. If you have been pining for a pair of heart shaped sunnies, you can get a pair from Ribbonxlove for RM18, not including the 5% discount that you can get by mentioning The Fashion Étudiante. For purchases above 5 items, shipping is free.

Bikinis are a tricky thing, so this outfit is pretty much foolproof. Throw on a pair of high waist shorts if you don't want to bare it all and a sheer top that would allow your bikini top to peek through. I opted for a white sheer top as my bikini top is a swirl of pink and purple.

With this look in mind, I'm pining for days on the beach with a good book, my toe scrunched in the sand and the sea breeze in my hair.

Till then,
Keep cool.

Elusive

Thrifted cardigan and top, Bodycon skirt from a bazaar, Heels from Payless Shoes,
Necklace from Ribbonxlove (RM18).

This gold chain link necklace from Ribbonxlove came right in time for Christmas as it adds a touch of elegance for any dinner party outfit. I personally think white and gold go hand in hand, especially for a very put together look for family events. The striking purple skirt adds an explosion of colour for an overall neutral look. So, if you guys are looking for a gold chain link necklace, you can get it from Ribbonxlove. Just mention The Fashion Étudiante and you'll get a 5% discount on your purchase. If you get 5 items or more, shipping is free.

On a side note, I am super psyched that Christmas is approaching, probably because it is an indication that I'll be on vacation. An escape from routine is what everybody needs. What are your holiday plans?

Till then,
Happy holidays!

City Streets

H&M blazer, Diva necklace, Thrifted top & shorts, Aly's bag, Shoes from Melaka.

Huzzah! Finals are over which automatically initiates lots of free time spent reading books bought from Big Bad Wolf, watching Friends from Season 1 to the very end, lounging around the house in my comfiest PJs past noon as well as days and nights out with friends. Our annual family trip is only a week away and so far, this semester break has turned out pretty well.

More photo shoots in the near future as well as other interesting tidbits. So stay tune folks.
