Sun Beams

H&M beanie (guys' section), Topshop sunglasses & skirt, T-shirt from Malacca,
Keds sneakers.

Day old hair is best hidden under a beanie. The rest of my hair was all frizzy and unruly as it was in a bun prior to going out. Beanies can do wonders on bad hair days.

Tuesday Tunes: Don't Watch Me Dancing

Music to dance to. Music to drive to. Music to live through.

Salted Caramel Haze

Sister's bandana, Pestle & Mortar top, Cotton On shorts, Forever 21 sandals.

Saturday was spent at the temple in the city, tea break at Food Foundry (their salted caramel crepe is absolutely amazing) and hanging out with my family in the mall. If you need a new bikini top or bottom, H&M's sale is crazy cheap. RM5 for a bikini bottom, how could I decline?

Bookmarked: Eleanor & Park

I was browsing at my favourite bookstore one day, looking for Good Omens, when the owner of the bookstore suggested I pick up Eleanor and Park.

"John Green highly recommends this book. As do I.", he said something along those lines.

That sealed the fate of the book coming home with me. After that, I noticed YouTubers and bloggers talking about it. With so much hype surrounding this book, I was a tad skeptical but read it with an open mind.

It takes a lot for a book to capture my attention for more than half an hour. This book left me clinging to it the whole day. My entire day was dedicated to this book. I just couldn't put it down. After finishing it at 2am, I felt emotionally drained. It took me the entire day to finish it because I wanted to savour it but at the same time I wanted to know what happens to Eleanor & Park as quickly as possible. Who knew I would get sucked into this world where mix tapes and comic books were exchanged; where the worlds of a Korean mixed Caucasian boy and a curvy girl with disastrous red hair would collide.

Eleanor & Park made my heart clenched. They made me smile and cry and I just could not get over them till this day.

Why this book is so amazing is because the story plays out in a very convincing way. This isn't some cliché fairytale where you can easily predict a happy ending. Even though you think you might know how this all plays out, well to be frank, you don't. That's how life is and that's how this book is.

Everything is uncertain and even till the end, it still is.

I really hope that one day you do pick this up. Maybe not today, but someday.

Long Way Home

Took a much needed trip to the thrift store yesterday. When thrifting, one must remember not to wear oversized shorts, like I did (but pockets that can store my phone, car keys and money is always a plus), as you will face difficulties when slipping on skirts.

Thrifted blazer & denim shorts, Cotton On tank top, H&M earrings, Bazaar bought shoes & ring,
Sling bag from Morocco

This thrifted blazer is perfect for scorching hot days when the AC in your car is on full blast as it's sheer and lightweight. I love that it's oversized yet when I roll up the sleeves it stays that way.

Brands outlet hijab/scarf, Black long sleeve top from random shop, Supré collared asymmetrical shirt, Forever 21 black jeans, Primark shoes

Meet Tasha, my partner in crime and soft grunge lumpster. You'll see her in future posts, that's for sure. She managed to get a few items yesterday too. A thrift haul will be up real soon.

Till then.

Change Is Good

Every once in awhile, I'll have an overwhelming need for change. Be it by trimming my hair, redecorating my bedroom or simply changing my phone case. As of late, I've been fulfilling this need by dyeing my hair.

The first time I dyed my hair, I requested for a shade of blue. It turned green.

Over a course of 2 months, it faded to a shade of light brown. I have to admit that I did like it green because it was an unusual shade that you don't see everyday and as it gradually turned to brown, I was fine with it too because it wasn't your conventional tone of brown. But what made me decide, rather impulsively, to dye my hair again were the roots. Man, I hated how my black roots were so obvious because my hair was light brown. It looked so bad.

So the second time I decided on purple, a dream of mine ever since I saw Chloe Nørgaard's gorgeous hair with three tones that are blue, purple and pink.

I was hoping it would fade to a dusty lilac like this:

Alas, dye jobs are never predictable in my case. It rarely goes the way I want it to go. There was a brief period of time where it was sorta purple, but it quickly transitioned to a striking red.

The day after I dyed my hair:

A few days later:

Now that my roots are starting to show again, I'm contemplating giving purple another shot. Whether I'll go to a salon or do it myself, I'm still on the fence. I guess only time will tell. Who knows, one day I might wake up and decide to dye my entire head pink. (I had a pink streak once. Thanks Tasha!)

We'll see. Excuse me as I plot my next move for gaining hair like these lovely ladies:

Adieu.

Cheers To Inconsistency

Once again, I've successfully neglected this blog. No excuses though. What's done is done.

Now, time for a quick catch up. Dyed my hair purple before the start of semester 2, but it faded to red really, really quick. That's the thing about dyeing your hair, it may never turn out the way you like it but what awaits you as it fades is much more thrilling. I love how striking my hair is either way. I wouldn't have dyed my hair red, so I guess you can say it's a blessing in disguise.

Today marks the end of semester 2 and I'm officially on semester break. So, cheers to more posts.

For now, catch up on my top 3 favourite outfits of May, June & July.

Gifted Bart Simpson shirt, Cotton On tank top, Madonna shorts, Locoo flatforms,
Turquoise skull bracelet from Fourskin, Gifted watch.

I've only worn this pair of flatforms once. Tripped the first time I wore it out. Lesson learnt: never walk on uneven roads when wearing flatforms. Will try styling it n various ways in future posts.

Locoo headband, Cotton On neon pink dress, H&M platforms

This dress is the best. You can dress it up with accessories or wear it as it is with a few arm candy. It is a bright neon hue which is great as it is bold, so that's the statement piece right there.

Thrifted top, H&M parka, high waist skirt & white flatforms, Sling bag from Morocco

As you can see, this leather sling bag is the my go to bag. It's the perfect size for my wallet and other necessities. Its sturdy and reliable, I love it. I paired up the parka with the skirt because I think the skirt is a tad too short. The parka helps 'hold it down' in a sense.

And that's a wrap!
Au revoir.
