Huzzah! Finals are over which automatically initiates lots of free time spent reading books bought from Big Bad Wolf, watching Friends from Season 1 to the very end, lounging around the house in my comfiest PJs past noon as well as days and nights out with friends. Our annual family trip is only a week away and so far, this semester break has turned out pretty well. 

More photo shoots in the near future as well as other interesting tidbits. So stay tune folks.

Escape

Currently experiencing post music festival withdrawal. Urbanscapes weekend was one of the best weekend of 2013. A photo diary will be up real soon once I've compiled all of the photos. Today's photos were taken a few weeks back. Had an impromptu shoot with Riley (his blog link here). The photos were taken with my iPhone because the manual settings of my ancient DSLR was being difficult so here we go.

Everything Is Average Nowadays

This post would mark the 100th post of The Fashion Étudiante. I don't really know how to feel about that because nothing's different. Posts will keep on coming and I don't think I'll stop anytime soon. But I guess this calls for a minor celebration of some sort *pops confetti/serves ice-cream cake/eats pizza/dance foam party*. There.

A white dress is as relevant as a little black dress. It still emits a look of elegance with a bare canvas that you could play it up however way you want. For this look, I decided to rev it up with a biker jacket with spikes and an ultra dangly earring that has spikes and a skull. Boots work well with this look or you could strut your stuff in a pair of chunky heels, creepers or platforms.

Before leaving the house, remember to darken those lips. Now are you good to go.

It is a wrap!

This is the last outfit from Lipstiq's KL Lookbook that Tasha Faye shot. She is amazingly talented, what with her ability to capture the right moments at the precise second. The shoot we had went by extremely fast and I love all the photos she sent me. Her editing skills are topnotch, adding that extra panache to every photo. She has a blog, people, so do check it out.

This week, I have a few interesting posts coming up and a photo shoot is scheduled on Monday. I'm so grateful to be surrounded by oh-so-creative friends who share similar interests. In a way, we think alike yet we have different perspectives. It is refreshing as they add splashes of colour into my life (as well as this blog). This is starting to sound very much like an appreciation post and it probably is but that's the way it is. I am simply grateful, happy and blessed. Surround yourself with people you love who love you back.

Paper Sails

H&M hat & flatforms, Necklace from Diva, Knit & Co denim top, Thrifted skirt.

Any excuse to wear a hat, I threw this outfit together with summer in mind, even though it is summer all year round here in Malaysia. The slits of the skirt made it easier for me to walk as the skirt is pretty form fitting, making it slightly easier for me to speed walk to class when I was running late. A chunky necklace is the finishing touch for most summer looks, or pile up on the bracelets of all shades. Opt for flatforms for the illusion of elongated legs.

Side note: Today's Halloween fiesta in college went pretty swell. A lot dressed up for the occasion and the photos will be up by next week.

It is officially Halloween week. My friends and I have been bouncing ideas of one another for we decided yesterday that we were actually gonna dress up. As of now, nothing is set in stone but we do have a rough idea of what we'll dress up as. The final looks will be posted here, IF we do actually go somewhere and not decide to crash at someone's place instead with boxes of pizza and a bunch of horror flicks.

What will you guys dress up as? It is a night where you can be whoever and whatever you wanna be after all, just go for it.

Cogito Ergo Sum

Seizing the opportunity that is semester break, Aly and I had a shoot in Putrajaya for we have been discussing about one for awhile now. Putrajaya is an ideal destination for shoots on the weekends because of the architecture and the lack of activity there. 

Without further ado, on with the photos:

Shooting in a deserted area can be freeing and fun, yet the lack of presence and noise were somewhat unnerving. At least we had the company of a number of cats who trailed around us and meowed when attention was not given. 

At the time, I was finishing The Secret History by Donna Tartt which is about a group of college students who committed murder. It was interesting but not a page turner. As it is about 600 pages, it took me about a month to finish it, but once I was done, I felt extremely connected with the characters, as if I were a part of their exclusive group that read books by Homer, spoke in Greek and had insightful conversations over cigarettes and whiskey. The Secret History is a cult classic because it is well written and all in all, a really good piece of fiction.
