Happiness is radiating from within me because spring break is officially here! I do have one more class left tomorrow, but midterms is over for me. Today was one of the longest day ever, but the weight of my Visual Merchandising presentation and Digital Techniques for Fashion Illustration test is off my shoulders now. I don't know how I'm mustering the energy to edit all of the photos above and spewing word after word, but sleep deprivation is a funny thing.

I'm so excited to explore San Francisco now that I have ample of time to do whatever I want. Venturing out of the city is a promising deal as friends with cars are always beneficial. My film cameras have been neglected as well, but with a new supply of films, I'm ready to shoot photo diaries for future me to go "Oh! I totally forgot about this moment."

Till then,
HYFR it's spring break.

I haven't been motivated to post any outfit shots pre-purple hair but now I see my wardrobe in a new light. It's amazing how such change can shift your entire perspective and lift your mood in many ways. Sometimes I catch my reflection in the mirror and it hits me that my hair is a completely different shade now, obviously I'm still processing this. I like it though, so I highly recommend change whenever you feel unmotivated or in a rut. Start small if you're afraid, even a simple hair cut is bound to make an impact. Coloured hair makes me feel like myself again, it's been awhile.

Also, I'm having way too much fun editing my photos. So far, as predicted, Digital Techniques for Fashion is my favourite class because we have so much power to create something out of nothing. It's so much fun experimenting with Illustrator. Once I get the hang of it, I'm definitely going to incorporate those elements into future outfit shots.

Till then,
Hang in there fellow midterm stragglers.

Look At All Your Stuff

Levi's vintage jacket, Hellz Bellz mesh top, Skorts from Michelle, Nikes, Socks from Taiwan,
Hype backpack, David Shrigley pin from MoCA, Noah Lyon pin from LACMA.

Long weekends spent procrastinating results to 4 hours worth of sitting in a cafe finishing up our Digital Techniques for Fashion assignment, in which we have to create a mini linesheet using any product we like. I decided to go with Nike's Air Zoom Pegasus 31 because they're so pretty to look at. Also, it wouldn't be wise to pick a garment because how often does an interesting piece come in multiple colours? Shoes are always wise for multiple layouts, I think. Fingers cross that by the end of the semester, I would no longer be as intimidated with InDesign and Illustrator as I am now.

To dress for the long hours of labor, I decided to coordinate my outfit around my Tweety Bird mesh top from Hellz Bellz that I bought at 8 a.m on Cyber Monday because that's when it went on sale. Jenn Im of ClotheseEncounters has the exact same top. Great minds, I tell you. Instead of throwing on my choker, I decided to accessorise with my art related pins. David Shrigley's comics are so odd and lovely that everyone should read them at least once to enter a whole other way of thinking.

Also, thank you Tasha & Ashley for recommending 13 Reasons Why. I'm halfway through. Will my emotions end up bouncing off the walls? I don't know, but I need to find out ASAP.

Till then,
Reading 13 Reasons Why till 4 a.m.
(Oh how I miss skipping sleep for books.)

Change

Vintage Levi's denim jacket, Urban Outfitters dress, Earrings from Markets,
Hype backpack, H&M boots.

I like the idea of documentation. Of keeping a journal that is filled with memories, both significant and insignificant. Yet the idea of having it look pretty and up-to-par with so many beautiful journals you see on Tumblr stresses me out. I feel unworthy of posting anything that I create. With resolutions all around during the end of 2014 and beginning of 2015, I decided to cut myself some slack this year and just create as much as possible. I have to start somewhere no?

So this is me attempting to create content that I can be proud of, emphasis on attempt.

It is the second week of the spring semester and things seem to be going good so far. I have ideas churning in mind during class, as I walk to dinner, on the bus, in the shower; anywhere really. I want to do this, no more pushing it away. It has been two decades of doing so, it's time for change.

Till then,
Bear with me.

Fast Animals

8am classes are the worst when it comes to outfit planning the night before, especially when you have to factor in the rain. So I decided to wing it and after multiple jacket fittings, I threw on my trusty blazer that fits like a glove. When in doubt, pick a piece that stands out and keep the rest simple. In this case, it was my skirt with high slits.

The rain has been killing my vibe, because the thought of getting from one point to another, even to a museum, just brings me down. Bright side, the California drought is over.

Winter break countdown: 17 days. Life as a nomad sounds appealing due to the unpredictability of your days. You technically know where you'll be but what the day consists of and whether you would be sleeping in a motel or crashing at a friend's place are factors that are constantly changing. I like the idea of not having fixed plans. However things may be, I would definitely keep all of you updated.

Till then,
12 hour Amtrak train rides shall be a treat.

Ground Control

Good Worth and Co. cap (cop it here), Thrifted top, H&M high waist jeans,
Boots from Taipei.

One Friday morning, the Third Culture team assembled at our HQ along with two of my delightful friends who were oh-so-kind to oblige us taking photos of them for a movie inspired piece. You can peep it here. We made it through 4 wardrobe changes and darkening makeup in less than 2 hours. Props to Rathika, who played the crucial role of camerawoman as I bounced around the room taking behind the scenes Instagram shots.

Fashion tip of the day: For boxy/oversized men's shirts, chop off the bottom half for a boxy crop top. That's exactly what I did with this shirt and now it fits perfectly.

Till then,
Best wishes!

KLFW :: Tres

Forever 21 top & bag, Marsya's cardigan, H&M shorts and boots.

Kicked off Day 3 with an early morning shoot for Third Culture's Pasar Dalam Men's. Kyren, our model of the day, was an absolute gem to shoot thanks to his variety of poses. It's refreshing to not have to tell models what to do. Plus points for those who take the initiative to hold plank poses.

Thankfully, Shaq and I only had to attend one show at 3pm. Once it was over, we looked at one another and exclaimed, "We're done!" in unison. You know, great minds.

I headed back to Subang to meet up with the girls, mainly just laying on Marsya's cosy bed as she rearranges her glorious book collection. Steamboat awaited us and we sat at our table from 8 to 11 because conversations had a hold on us. Our conversation started from the advancement of technology (the movie Her and the low reproduction rate in Japan) to the fall of the Berlin Wall and ending with something rather odd like philosophy. I love having long dinners that consist of thought provoking conversations and good food.

Till then,
For with much wisdom is much sorrow; as knowledge increases, grief increases.

KLFW :: Dos

Thrifted jacket, Bershka crop top, Locco belt, Pasar Dalam skirt,
Boots from Taipei.

The shows on Day 2 were much better than Day 1, in my opinion, because of the variety of looks. What that means is that, there were colour, which is a risk that I appreciate as I think that most designers tend to stick to an all black show to play it safe. Yes, all black looks good and put together. BUT, it is unimaginative and the excitement that is fashion starts to falter as everyone conforms to that palette. It is clean, pristine, sleek, whatever adjective you want to use. I am not denying that, but at the end of the day, fashion is art. Once it starts to look like the end of a factory line, the element of art corrodes and what more is there to it?

Till then,
Think about it.

KLFW :: Uno

Forever 21 crop top & bag, Necklace from KK, Fame Agenda skirt,
H&M shoes.

In the span of 5 days, I have accumulated over 640 new iPhone photos, which consists mainly of runway shots, behind the scenes of photo shoots and random snapshots of my mates. It is insane what KLFW can do to a person. But then again, I have always been somewhat anal when it comes to photos in the sense that I feel the need to take multiple shots in case the photo is out of focus or someone moved/blinked. The fact that I don't like deleting old photos doesn't help that my photo album is close to hitting the 6k mark.

The reason I hoard old photos in my phone is because on some nights, I like to go through my album and reminisce. Me, sentimental? Always.

It has been a great week though, albeit an exhausting one. At the beginning of the week aka Monday, I was thinking to myself how I had loads of time to finish some pending books and series but alas, Shaq requested I join him for fashion week. It was my first time and I spent the day before wrecking my brain for outfits. How do I incorporate Fame Agenda pieces into my outfit? Well, that was easy. The skirt I wore made a statement by itself.

Day 1 was thrilling but the feeling died down after the second show. By then, I was ready to head home and yearned for the comfort of my bed. Somehow, ZoƩ managed to talk me into a screening of Titanic at Starlight Cinema. And with that folks, I capped my night off with Rose & Jack.

Till then,
My heart will not go on.
