Photo Diary: Langkawi I

I find it hard to believe that a month has passed since Langkawi. It makes me wonder whether my time management is off track or that there has been so much going on that days fly pass me.

Anyways, on to the tale of how we woke up around 6 in the morning in order to trek our way by foot to Komtar so that we could catch a bus to get to another bus station in Sg. Nibong. Our second bus ride was 2 hours long, with lack of sleep and a growling stomach, we arrived in another state to catch a ferry to Langkawi. Close to 2 hours later, we are in a rented car and on our way to the beach. The best part about this story is that we caught all of our rides in the nick of time. The universe took us very seriously on said day.

After frolicking on the beach, we drove to a waterfall in which we had to trek up mix matched rocks only to wade in icy cold water. It was refreshing and picture perfect. Our next destination was the cable cars, now here is where the universe pulled a fast one. It rained and we missed the sunset due to heavy clouds. Funny thing is, it brightened up as the sun was setting but just as it hit that Kodak moment, the clouds were like 'LOOK AT US.', thus blocking the view.

We capped the night off with seafood overlooking the sea and a late night drive. Day 1 turned out pretty perfect, if you asked me.

Till then,
Dreaming of my next getaway.

KLFW :: Dos

Thrifted jacket, Bershka crop top, Locco belt, Pasar Dalam skirt,
Boots from Taipei.

The shows on Day 2 were much better than Day 1, in my opinion, because of the variety of looks. What that means is that, there were colour, which is a risk that I appreciate as I think that most designers tend to stick to an all black show to play it safe. Yes, all black looks good and put together. BUT, it is unimaginative and the excitement that is fashion starts to falter as everyone conforms to that palette. It is clean, pristine, sleek, whatever adjective you want to use. I am not denying that, but at the end of the day, fashion is art. Once it starts to look like the end of a factory line, the element of art corrodes and what more is there to it?

Till then,
Think about it.

Tuesday Tunes: Paper Aeroplane

During one of the 12:30pm shows of Day 2 KLFW, this song came on. It had me bopping my head along to the beat and I was momentarily distracted with Soundhounding this song instead of capturing the looks. There's something about this song that has me pumped up but simultaneously is able to keep me calm and in the zone. Perfect song for long studying sessions when you need a pick me up or blast this in the A.M. when you're getting ready to head out for a long day of classes/work.

And yes, it is a different take on Angus and Julia Stone. It is divine.

Till then,
It's gone with the wind.

KLFW :: Uno

Forever 21 crop top & bag, Necklace from KK, Fame Agenda skirt,
H&M shoes.

In the span of 5 days, I have accumulated over 640 new iPhone photos, which consists mainly of runway shots, behind the scenes of photo shoots and random snapshots of my mates. It is insane what KLFW can do to a person. But then again, I have always been somewhat anal when it comes to photos in the sense that I feel the need to take multiple shots in case the photo is out of focus or someone moved/blinked. The fact that I don't like deleting old photos doesn't help that my photo album is close to hitting the 6k mark.

The reason I hoard old photos in my phone is because on some nights, I like to go through my album and reminisce. Me, sentimental? Always.

It has been a great week though, albeit an exhausting one. At the beginning of the week aka Monday, I was thinking to myself how I had loads of time to finish some pending books and series but alas, Shaq requested I join him for fashion week. It was my first time and I spent the day before wrecking my brain for outfits. How do I incorporate Fame Agenda pieces into my outfit? Well, that was easy. The skirt I wore made a statement by itself.

Day 1 was thrilling but the feeling died down after the second show. By then, I was ready to head home and yearned for the comfort of my bed. Somehow, ZoƩ managed to talk me into a screening of Titanic at Starlight Cinema. And with that folks, I capped my night off with Rose & Jack.

Till then,
My heart will not go on.

Photo Diary: Penang II

Travel tip: bring an extra shirt for weird temperature fluctuations in the airport and on the aircraft as well as a cover up for rain or shine. Think about it, a shirt is light and can easily be styled. When in doubt, tie it around your waist. If you are planning your next road trip, do read up on Third Culture's road trip essentials, here, or don't, whatever floats your boat.

Funny story about the Hin Bus Art Depot. We trekked all the way over only to catch the same exhibit, Lid & Let Live, that Marini and I saw over at Avenue K months ago. It was definitely a smack to the face by Penang. BUT, the Hin Bus Art Depot has so many interesting wall art and odd knick knacks that you should definitely stage your own impromptu photo shoot there.

Till then,
The universe is laughing at us all.

Tuesday Tunes: For Heaven's Sake Go To Hell

Amidst the chaos of filling out visa and housing applications, I seek serenity in Frank Ocean's Channel Orange. I am particularly drawn towards Pink Matter, maybe because it speaks to me or just that one line that makes everything better. I'm not sure, but then again, I can never really put emotions for music into words well.

At times I wonder whether we gravitate towards a certain song because of the lyrics, melody or anything in particular. Perhaps it's just the way it makes us feel, but what triggers does emotions? For me, it's probably the line What do you think my brain is made for? Is it just a container for the mind? that really caught my attention.

If you are a rookie to the genius that is Frank Ocean, you should most definitely check out these tracks from Channel Orange:
  1. Thinkin Bout You
  2. Sierra Leone
  3. Super Rich Kids
  4. Crack Rock
  5. Lost
  6. Monks
  7. Bad Religion
  8. Forrest Gump
Till then,
What if the sky and the stars are for show?

Scotophobia

Forever 21 muscle tee & bag, H&M blazer, F Block shorts,
Boots and socks from Taipei.

Amanda, Marsya, Eurica (stalk them on Instagram)

Obviously I did not get the memo for dressing up in total darkness, but this lunch was way overdue. I miss their asses, thus we holed up in Tryst with our usual orders of pancakes drizzled with chocolate syrup and a healthy side of ice cream. Amanda went the extra mile by ordering mash potatoes covered with cheese and sauce along side nachos. Needless to say we were stuffed silly and could barely move.

The best thing about this friendship (if you can even call it that, Marsya would probably dub us a sisterhood) is that no matter where we are or what we do, we always have a good time. We can insult one another knowing that the other person wouldn't feel hurt because that's how tight (*insert beaver/fanny pack jokes here*) we are. I've only known these grrrrls for less than a year but it is unbelievable how close we have gotten. If you guys are reading this: YOUR FACES ARE IRRELEVANT. DON'T TALK TO ME GO BACK TO YOUR HOLE. I'll see you on Friday.

Till then,
*insert inappropriate joke*
